Exposing the Unexposed
Hello, Dear One.
So glad you are here.
I don’t know about you, but I think we are collectively suffering from a bit of cabin fever, all around the globe.
There are a lot of different thoughts and desires that are flitting around and inside of me and starting to compile. In light of that…
Some inspiration from Anne Lamott’s brilliant book, Bird by Bird..
“We write to expose the unexposed. If there is one door in the castle you have been told not to go though, you must. Otherwise, you’ll just be rearranging furniture in rooms you’ve already been in. Most human beings are dedicated to keeping that one door shut. But the writer’s job is to see what’s behind it, to see the bleak unspeakable stuff, and to turn the unspeakable into words —not just into any words but if we can, into rhythm and blues….Truth seems to want expression. Unacknowledged truth saps your energy and keeps you wired and delusional. But when you open the closet door and let what was inside out, you can get a rush of liberation and even joy.”
Are there some doors in the castle of your heart that you’ve been avoiding opening these last few weeks? Today I want to encourage you to open them up …and tell your truth. Just let it out.
Use your creativity as a way to express your truth and whatever you are feeling in the darkest, coldest parts of your castle, and if you can, turn those words into rhythm and blues.
Maybe you need to open that door and dance out those demons? Maybe you need to open that door and splatter some paint in every direction. What we are going through, globally is not light...and it's not to be underestimated. And the emotions that might be coming up for you are not something to just dismiss or shove under the rug.
Anne Lamott said it well...unacknowledged truth saps our energy. The truths inside of us long for expression. So however you most love to express through your creativity, express your TRUTH!
And may that rush of liberation and joy follow!!!
